                  Our Tenet Of Faith:
The ScripturesWe believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. The product of holy men
of old who spoke and wrote as they were movedupon by the Holy Spirit. We accept it as
the infallible guide in the Christian walk.(II Tim. 3:16, I Thes. 2:13; II Peter 1:21)The
GodheadWe believe our God is one, but manifested in three persons - the Father, the
Son and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal (Phil. 2:6).God the Father is greater than all: the
Source of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter (John 14:28; John 1:14). The Son is
theWord flesh-covered, the One Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the
beginning (John 1:1; John 1:18 & John 1:14).The Holy Spirit proceeds from both the
Father and the Son and is eternal (John 15:26). Jesus Christ is true God and true man,
having been conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin, Mary. (John 1:1,14; Matt.
1:18; Luke 1:26-27;1 Tim. 2:5) Incorrelation to the scriptures regarding one God, we do
not believe that the God of the Old and New Testament are different. InMal. 3:6, the
scripture confesses "I the Lord, do not change," and again in James 1:17 the scripture
affirms, "every good andperfect gift from above coming down from the Father of the
heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." It is arevelation when we
know that the same God who split the Red Sea is dwelling in the midst of our lives today.
Man, His Fall and SalvationWe believe man is a created being, made in the likeness and
image of God, however, through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin entered into the
world. "All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." As it is written, "There is
none righteous, no,not one." Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested in the flesh
to reverse the work of Satan by giving His life and sheddingHis blood in order to redeem
and restore man back to God the Father. (Rom. 5:14; Rom. 3:10; Rom. 3:23; I John 3:8).
Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made
operative by grace through faith in JesusChrist, producing works acceptable to God.
(Eph. 2:8)Eternal Life and the New BirthWe believe man’s first step toward salvation is
godly sorrow that worketh repentance. The New Birth is necessary to all men;and when
fulfilled, produces eternal life (II Cor. 7:10; I John 5:12)Water BaptismWe believe baptism
in water is by immersion, it is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers
only. The ordinanceis a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death,
burial, and resurrection. (Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12;Acts 8:36-39) The following
recommendations regarding the water baptismal formula is adopted; to wit: "On the
confession ofyour faith, I baptize you in the Name of the Father and of the Son, and the
Holy Spirit as written in Matt. 28:19 and in the nameof the Lord Jesus Christ, for the
remission (forgiveness) of sins as written in Acts 2:38. As Christ was raised from the
dead bythe glory of the Father, even so you also shall rise to walk in newness of life."
CommunionWe believe in a regular demonstration of the table of the Lord, commonly
called the communion of the Lord’s supper, forbelievers, and for the healing of the
same. (I Cor. 11:28-32; Matt. 26:26-28)Baptism in the Holy SpiritWe believe the baptism
of the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord, Jesus Christ, to all
believers andis received subsequent to the New Birth. (Matt. 3:11; John 14:16-17; Acts 2:
38-39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:4)1SanctificationWe believe that the Bible teaches that without
holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe sanctification is vital for theChristian
walk. It is a progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of salvation and
continuing until the consummation.(Heb. 12:14; I Thes. 5:23; II Peter 3:18; Phil. 3:12-14;I
Cor. 1:30) We do not concur with the doctrine of "once saved, always saved" (eternal
security). Our belief is substantiated bythe following scriptures: Col. 1:21-23; II Ti. 2:12-
13; Heb. 3:12-19; Heb. 6:4-12; Heb. 10:19-38; and I Peter 2:4-22.Divine HealingWe
believe healing is needed for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the
power of God through the prayer offaith and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in
the atonement of Christ and is the privilege of every member of theChurch and is in
operation today. (Mark 16:18; James 5:25;I Peter 2:24; Matt. 8:17; Isa. 53:4-5)
Resurrection of the Just and the Return of the LordWe believe in the return of the Lord
and the resurrection of His saints. The angels said, "This same Jesus shall so come in
likemanner." His coming is imminent. When He comes, "…the dead in Christ shall rise
first; then we which are alive and remainshall be caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and return with Him to the earth," according toMatthew
5:5. (Acts 1:11; I Thes. 4:16-17)Hell and Eternal RetributionWe believe that the one who
physically dies in his sins, without Christ, is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of
Fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. The
Lake of Fire is literal. The terms "eternal" and"everlasting," used in describing the
duration punishment of the dammed in the Lake of Fire, carry the same thought
andmeaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of
saints in the presence of God. (Heb. 9:27;Rev. 19:20)Faith and WorksWe believe that
faith without works is dead. We do not believe, as a matter of the fundamental beliefs
and doctrines of thischurch, that any matter can be believed without their being an
accompanying and corresponding action. Our faith is an activefaith that requires the
doing of acts in the world. Our faith is not passive or a complacent system of intellectual
belief or assentto doctrine, but is rather an active force in our lives that requires and
results in actions being taken. A living, active faith will bemanifested not only in belief
and mental assent but in actions expressing and based upon that belief. If a belief is
truly held, itwill be acted upon. The act is as much a fundamental aspect of our faith as
the belief upon which the act is based. (James2:14-16; Eph. 2:8-10; Matt. 7:24-27; Matt 5:
16; Matt. 16:27; Rev. 2:23;Rev 22:12)Church DisciplineWe believe in church discipline
administered within the relational group in a spirit of meekness and confidentiality. The
purposeof such discipline is the restoration of the one subject to the discipline and/or
purification of the church. The steps of disciplineare one-on-one private confrontation
with witness, pastors confronting the situation in the presence of the elders, and finally,
exposure to the church for judgment leading to restoration or separation from the church.
(Matt. 18:15-20; Gal. 6:1; Rom 16:17;II John 9:11; I Cor. 5; II Cor. 2:6-8; I Tim. 5:20)The
ChurchWe believe that the church is the body of Christ expressed as the church
individual (a specific church), the church local, andthe church universal and invisible (all
saints of all places and all times united together under one Lord). As such, we believe
thechurch to be more than just a building or a gathering of people. It is a body living in
relationship and harmony under thedirection of the head, Jesus Christ.(I Cor. 6:15; II
Cor. 1:1; Rom. 16:5; I Peter 2:4-5; Eph. 2:19-22; I Cor. 12:12-31; Rom. 12:4-5;Eph. 4:11-
16)2Autonomy and RelationshipWe believe that the local church, although autonomous,
will be related to other local churches and ministries through fellowshipand formed
relationships. In particular, we believe that there are foundational ministries of apostles
and prophets that transcendthe local church and that the local church should be in a
relationship with such a ministry or ministries for the purpose of advice, counsel,
oversight, encouragement, and help. Such ministries are designed by God to provide
connection and relationship inthe universal body of Christ between and among local
fellowships and to provide spiritual covering, protection, accountability, identity, with
checks and balances on local leadership by local elders.. Arise Christian Fellowship is
a Christian InternationalNetwork Church affiliated under the covering of Bishop Bill
Hamon, President and Founder of Christian International, SantaRosa Beach, Florida.
Leadership of the Holy SpiritWe believe that in all matters concerning the body of Christ;
its direction, discipline, ministry and functioning, that specificguidance and instruction
revelation and discernment of truth from falsehood, is available by the leading of the Holy
Spirit. (Acts13:1-3; I Tim. 1:18; Rom. 8:14; I Tim. 5:22;John 16:13-15; I Cor. 5:3)Laying on
of HandsWe believe that the Laying on of Hands is a biblical practice. Jesus practiced it
in Mark 10:13-16 as a blessing and is ourgrounds for baby dedication instead of
baptism. We believe in the Laying on of Hands for the healing of the sick. (Mark 5:22-23;
4; Mark 5:28-31; Acts 28:8; Acts 19:11-12) Laying on of Hands to confer office (Acts 6:2-
6); Laying on of Hands to receivewords spoken to receive anointing, and to cultivate the
anointing (I Tim. 4:14) and the Laying on of Hands for Ordination toconsecrate and
receive the necessary ministry tools. (I Tim. 4:14)The Role of the Prophetic Ministry in the
ChurchWe believe that God speaks today. There are at least five areas of prophecy by
which God speaks to His people. They are theoffice of the prophet, prophetic preaching,
prophetic presbytery, the gift of prophecy, and the spirit of prophecy. All five areasare
received and encouraged in this church. We believe that hearing from God, both
individually as members and corporatelyas a church, through prophecy or any other
biblical means chosen by God is only one method of discerning God’s will anddirection.
It is recognized that most of the methods of prophecy may not always be one hundred
percent accurate and actionsshould not be taken on the basis of prophetic words alone
without other confirmation. We believe that prophetic presbyteryserves the purpose in the
body of Christ in activating, establishing and releasing leadership. (I Cor. 14:3; Eph. 4:
11; Eph. 2:20; ITim. 4:14; Acts 13:1-3; Ti. 1:5’ Rom. 12:6; I Peter 4:10;I Cor. 14:1; I Thes. 5:
19-21; I Tim. 5:22; II Tim. 1:6)How to respond to a Personal ProphecyWe believe that
your prophecy should be written out word for word and submitted to your pastor or
spiritual authority. Do notmake major decisions based on one word alone. Test all
prophecies against scripture and the discernment and wisdom of yourpastor or spiritual
authority. Do not get impatient, prophecy unfolds! Prophecies are also conditional. They
require faith andobedience on your part, if a prophecy does not fit…hang it up for a
season like a coat until it fits. (Gen. 22:12-18; Deut. 29:29;Ezk. 26:37; I Cor. 14:3; I Cor.
13:8; I Tim. 1:18; I Tim. 4:14-15; Acts 15:32) Additionally, we do not permit prophesying to
oneanother unless it has been either taped, written and/or submitted to the pastor,
senior elders for critiquing.3Financial SupportWe believe that scripture requires all
members of the congregation to support the programs and needs of the church
inproportion as the Lord shall prosper them through tithes and offerings..
Acknowledging, that any institution can stand or be offull service only in proportion as all
of the members of the congregation accept responsibility of maintaining it. (Mal. 3:10; I
Cor.16:1-2; II Cor. 9:6-9; Heb. 7:1-8)Visionary and GovernmentWe believe that there is
always a person who is the presiding leader on any leadership team raised up by God.
That person willbe the leader of the leadership team. We believe that the leader will be
an ascension gift (apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor orteacher) although not
necessarily a pastor, through whom the main vision of the church is received, articulated
and developed. He or she will be the one with the final responsibility and decision-
making authority in all matters concerning the church. He orshe will be recognized by the
grace, anointing, ability and vision given by God. (Num. 27:15-22; I Cor. 12:18;Eph. 4:11;
Acts 13:1) God will raise up elders and other ascension gifts to function within the
leadership team consisting of thevisionary and elders. Within the team, we believe that
there will be submission of the visionary to the others in the governingleadership and
that there will be submission of the others to the visionary. We believe that they are to
seek the mind of Godtogether for the church in all areas of its affairs.OrdinancesWe
believe in two primary New Testament ordinances, Baptism by immersion and the Lord’
s supper. We believe thatordination and licensing in this church is a separation and
recognition of a specific gifting of God. We believe that God callsmen into specific
giftings and ministries as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Man
can only recognize thecall and acknowledge it. Ordination is on the basis of that
recognition of God’s gifting. Men called to a specific office by Godand ordained or
licensed by this church will have the right to participate in the traditional sacramental and
ordinal functions ofthe church such as marriage, funerals, baptisms, and the like. They
shall also be expected to function in the spiritual giftings oftheir office and to
demonstrate the reality of their calling. We reject the efficacy of ritual and the concept of a
separate priestlyclass. We recognize the priesthood of believers and the serving ministry
of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacherwith government by elders. As
such, we recognize that those called to these offices will function in a manner to lead
byexample in prayer, worship, teaching, laying on of hands, and prophesying. Such
actions on the part of those ordained andlicensed by this church are equivalent to the
sacramental function of the priesthood in traditional sacramental churches.
RepentanceWe believe that repentance is dependent upon the convicting action of the
Holy Spirit in the lives of sinners and believers. Theconviction of the Holy Spirit, which
often accompanies the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, will result in the
revelationof the sinfulness of self which should lead to godly sorrow. True repentance,
expressing godly sorrow, means that we partnerwith God against our sin turning away
from it never to revisit it again. Worldly sorrow will bring guilt and sorrow, however, itdoes
not give us the power to overcome our sin. Repentance is a total change of heart, mind,
attitude, emotions, will, action, and lifestyle flowing from the turmoil and sorrow of Holy
Spirit conviction of sin.(II Cor. 7:10; Psalms 51; Acts 11:18; II Tim. 2:25; Gen. 6:3; Rom. 1:
18-32; Matt. 9:12-13)
